Bulthland Lura
The Holy Empire of Bulthland Lura commonly called Bulthland Lura, is a Theocracy in Auratus. It is bordered on the no other nations. Bulthland Lura covers 6500 square miles and has has an estimated population of 1.3 Billion. Bulthland Lura comprises of 6 territories.
Etymology
The name Bulthland Lura has been used for centuries to describe the unified territories of multiple smaller nations. In 1752 Jaques Bolivan, an educated youth coming from a farming community, began to preach for the unification of the six different bordering nations in order to better combat colonial powers and further progress their standing on the global stage. His movement quickly gained traction and all but one of the nations were unified under his banner of democratic thought and populist doctrine. The sixth and southernmost province, Ha Tinh, would not integrate until early 1807 when faced with increased unrest within its population. After its integration the unified nations were named The Democratic States of Bulthland Lura, meaning eternal peace in Bulthlandan.
The standard way to refer to a citizen of Bulthland Lura is as a "Bulthlandan."
History
Pre-History
Before the initial unification in 1752, relatively little is recorded of historical events or important figureheads. Most of what is currently recorded is from word-of-mouth sources passed over the centuries and various archaeological discoveries. From what has been passed down and small discovered settlements, it is estimated that the original citizens of the six nations came from the north in around 983 AD. It can be assumed that they moved during a particularly cold string of winters and had no choice but to try and find a warmer, more tropical climate in order to properly feed themselves and be able to advance technologically.
Fractured Nations (1127-1521)
When King Albudan rose to power in Phnom Penh he ordered the creation of written manuscripts detailing the actions of the court and nation as a whole. This is a great and very detailed treasure that started centuries of records that allow us to get a great glimpse into the history of Bulthland Lura. The period between 1127-1521 is known as the time of fractured nations because there was countless infighting between the nations, without any real advancements on the fronts. Although the fighting caused a great strain on resources and manpower, it led the a great advancement of military technology and helped improve the use of jungle tactics and guerrilla warfare. This is currently seen as a time of great unrest and civil turmoil.
Time of Troubles (1525-1752)
The period between 1525 and 1752 is seen as a time of troubles because there was a large influx of cheaper, foreign labor that led to an economic crisis among the permanent residents. There were constant plagues, smaller border wars, and economic problems throughout the era that led to the destruction of the previous ways of life. In the early 1700s it was realized that it would have been impossible to continue alone and that they would need to unify in order to quell all of the civil unrest and economic hardships that had shaped the nation for nearly 200 years. This initial unification was suggested and brought together by Jaques Bolivan, an educated youth coming from a farming community. He wanted to bring together all of the six nations to form one unified country divided into six regions. This sentiment rose very quickly throughout the nations and was adopted as the proper way forward unless they wanted to collapse within themselves.
Unification (1753-1807)
The unification period is marked as one of great political advancement within the nation, where the nations initially tried to cement agreements that would benefit them all moving forward. This period was one of peace and tranquility, seen now as the second most unified time of all history. This period ended in 1807, when the last of the six nations agreed to integrate and they finalized the steps necessary to form Bulthland Lura.
Democratic Menace (1807-1980)
The period between 1807 and 1980 was a sad, abusive time for the majority of citizens. The democratic leadership that took over the nation after its unification cared very little for the well-being of true citizens. While the people could not have seen it while it was underway, they are now taught the truth of the rigged elections and corrupt leadership that took advantage of them every step of the way. There were technological advances pushed forward by foreigners and lesser individuals who did not see the importance of keeping the nation as pure as possible so that true citizens could find proper ways to take care of their families. Seen now as the worst period in history, this era is taught in schools to show how bad things can get when you do not allow true Bulthlandans to be free from the shackles chained to them when they allow a large government or foreign powers to take control.
Golden Age (1984-2017)
A true time of peace, harmony, and national advancement. This era began with the election of Horia Sima, an extremely nationalistic and pro-Bulthlandan representative. After this nationalistic grew very quickly within the overburdened farming communities it began to reach the inner cities and metropolitan areas. After their crushing victory over the Democratic Party in the 1984 elections they began making sweeping changes over the nation. The elected president, Horia Sima, took it upon himself to instill his personal religious values into his political doctrine. Almost immediately he banned all foreign religions and outlawed any practices that went against his interpretation of the Orthodox Catholic faith. He mixed this religious zeal with extremely xenophobic and ultra-nationalist doctrine that practically banned all foreigners from holding permanent jobs or having the luxuries of everyday citizens. Standing true to his promise of promoting stability, he revitalized the economy by slashing taxes on corporations and causing a massive influx of companies wanting to exploit the area for its natural resources. Within a year they had hired thousands of Bulthlandan citizens and, thanks to a lack of many restrictions, had them working tirelessly to gain whatever they could from the area. Although the lower class citizens were tired and overworked, it was great for them to have the money needed to take care of their families. His popularity began to grow and before the next elections could be held in 1990 he declared that the BGC would rule "indefinitely in order to protect the people that do not know how to take care of themselves." Even now the period is still seen as a great golden age for the world.
Bloodied Waters (2017-Onward)
Following the assassination of Horia Sima, Ivan Mihailov took full control of the church and state. An extreme hardliner, he issued in a series of extreme laws to gain even more control over the country. With promises of revenge and large-scale military buildup, we can only wait and see what the future has to offer.
Geography
Bulthland Lura is a fairly diverse nation, with a geography starting with mountains and hills in the north before rolling into a smooth coastline in the southern provinces. It has an extremely tropical climate and is almost entirely surrounded by the dense Luran Junlges, home to seemingly limitless resources and an abundance of wildlife that can't be found anywhere else in the world. It rarely falls below 50 degrees and spends the majority of the year in the rainy season. The rain and heat are extremely daunting to tourists, making it a good thing that they have been all but completely banned from the nation.
Demographics
Population
The population of Bulthland Lura is extremely dedicated to their leader, Ivan Mihailov, and see him not only as a savior from the shortcomings of their democratic predecessors but also as a religious prophet brought to establish their promised land. The average Bulthlandan, as reported by the State Agency of the Interior, is noted to be the happiest in the entire region and with the ability to earn more than anyone else in the area. The population is extremely hard-working and dedicated to the super-nationalist ideologies espoused by the BGC. Most believe that they are working hard so that the future generations will have everything they could possibly desire, while the rest seem to disappear in the night and are marked as traitors to their nation.
Language
Bulthlandan is an old and fairly complex language, noted for its numerous "squiggly lines" and "impossible swoops." Although the language is very diverse and complicated it is rarely ever spoken by citizens after adopting English as the official language of the modern era. While there are currently a lot of movements to move back to the Bulthlandan language for nationalistic reasons, it is safe to say that the vast majority of the population does not speak it on a regular basis. Bulthlandan is still the official language of the interior government and is used for all Upper Council and official meetings, while used less on a regional scale.
Religion
Bulthland Lura follows an extremely augmented branch of Orthodox Christianity, believing that they were selected by God to uphold the mantle of Christianity within the region. They see Horia Sima as the newest coming of a prophet given to them so that they can fully advance into the modern era and bring the light of the faith into the 21st century. A massive amount of the government expenditure is invested into religion, with extremely ornate churches and massive meeting halls designed to bring the people together in order to worship. Every citizen is given a copy of Horia's adaption of the Orthodox Bible when they turn nine and are tested on it regularly throughout school. All schools, through university, teach religious classes for the entire year and every citizen is expected to participate in some form of prayer service at least twice a week. A Youth Orthodox Guard is established to further the advancement of the Orthodox Faith throughout the newest generation and turn in the names of those espousing different beliefs or, even worse, those with no beliefs at all. All other religious practices are banned within the nation.
Race
The Bulthlandans believe that they are the superior race within the region. Although originally expected to be extremely pale and taller after hailing from the northernmost parts of the region, over the centuries they have become shorter in stature in order to better traverse the dense jungle. They are a hybrid between the northern, colder climate and the southern tropical areas even though the majority of northern characteristics have diminished or disappeared entirely throughout the course of their stay in their current homeland.
Government
The government is under the complete control of Ivan Mihailov, the recently empowered Holy Emperor and never official that is destined to bring Bulthland Lura into the modern era. He has final say on all major national and international issues without any form of checks or balances. The Upper Council is a council of six members, each chosen by Ivan from one of the six provinces, and are in place until they either die or are dismissed. Ivan has the ability to pass smaller national matters, or occasionally matters of particular importance, onto them if he sees fit. They each also serve as propaganda minsters for their respective provinces and are in charge of local law enforcement.
On a regional level, there is a small bureaucracy in charge of handling smaller, day to day affairs like licenses, complaints, etc. They have virtually no real power and are only in place to serve the will of the Upper Council and Holy Emperor.
Foreign Relations and Military
Foreign Relations are almost nonexistent within Bulthland Lura. Although some critical trade deals are allowed, there is a very strict policy on foreign officials and foreigners entering the nation. There are currently no ongoing deals nations that are areligious or atheistic in any way.
The military is designed to be light and maneuverable to properly get through the jungle. They are made almost entirely for defense, using the extensive defensive networks to provide a safeguard against foreign powers. More about them can be seen in the various informational factbooks available.

The Bulthlandan economy is a regional powerhouse and among the very best of all current nations. It is centered around extremely laxed regulations that allow for countless amounts of labor in order to bring as many goods as possible to the use of the state and its partnered private corporations. The tax rate on corporations is very small in order to bring in as much industry as possible, while a lack of foreigners means they have no choice but to hire local labor to fulfill all of their needs. This was one of the major pieces of legislature that allowed them to get out of the large economic collapse in the early eighties and continues to help millions of citizens today when looking for and acquiring work.
The economy is currently mostly occupied with infrastructure, gambling, information technology, and the publishing of approved literature. Its total value has exceeded over 500 billion marks this past fiscal year and is projected to grow exponentially.

The staples of the culinary industry, bananas and rice, is an extremely popular dish served frequently in households and throughout almost any restaurant. Other tropical fruits, such as pineapple and coconuts, are also extremely popular and eaten frequently throughout the region. Fish is an extremely popular source of protein for the lower classes and is delivered from the small amounts of coastline and lakes available, whereas the upper class typically see it as a "dirty" type of meat and prefer to eat either beef or pork.
Football is an extremely popular sport and each region has a team that they flock behind. Although the rankings vary greatly depending on the season, the Kampong Crusaders and the Ho Tinh Holymen are usually neck-and-neck for the first place spot each year. The event is always broadcasted throughout the entire nation and is one of the only times when extreme amounts of advertisements are not allowed on television. Figure Skating is also seen as an extremely popular pastime for the upper class, likely rooted in the practices of the northern ancestors. Almost all wealthy children go through some level of skating classes in one of the many luxurious, expensive rinks available in the larger cities.
The rest of the culture is generally considered Eastern in nature, focusing on the importance of the family and its role in the betterment of the nation. This has resulted in major advancements in technology used for the extraction of resources, although the preservation of the jungles is extremely important for both civil and defensive purposes.
Infrastructure
Personal transportation is dominated largely by small governmentally-licensed automobiles, connected by highways and a lot of dirt roads throughout the six provinces. There are large public bus systems within the cities and some commuter and commercial railways that run through the plains in the middle of the country, providing access to the warm water ports in the south. There is also a bustling commercial airplane industry, although it is largely being used by the extremely wealthy as favor turns away from the railways that are seen as for the lower classes. The airport in Pokat is the biggest in the nation and provides national travel to all ten of the largest cities in the country.
Energy
While energy is readily available for the vast majority of the population, its use is generally restricted during peak daylight hours. You are allowed to pay your way past this restriction, albeit the lower class usually do not have enough money or are not willing to pay the amount. There has been a movement to vitalize the nuclear power industry and production has begun on the nation's first nuclear power plant, which is expected to be completed by mid to late 2018. There are a few natural gas deposits that also provide quick energy access to the financial elite and government employees.
