The Government of La Plata and Peru
Parliamentary Republic Legislative Lower House: Platan Assembly Legislative Upper House: Platan Council Judicial: Grand Court Executive: President Majority Party: Unidad (Unity) Opposition Parties: Triunfo (Triumph) , Trabajo (Labor) History of the Republic
Originally,La Plata was a collection of colonies operating as a viceroyalty to an empire lost to time. After a revolution in 1857 due to a crackdown on democratic freedoms, they united under the single banner of the Republic of La Plata in 1858, at the Santiago Conference. Another colony, Peru, would break away in 1878, and joined the Republic in 1880. Due to it’s difference from La Plata, it is specifically mentioned separately in the name. The Constitution (Signed 1890 after an Assembly move to create a founding document) is borrowed from the United States, while the Parliamentary system is distinctively European.
