Earlier this week, Federal astronomers stationed at the St. Ark Observatory and Array reported the discovery of an unusually large asteroid dubbed by scientists as Haakon1994XF04. Astronomers say this large space amalgam of iron, nickel, and ice pockets may contain traces of rare-earth elements, supported by x-ray spectrograms and conventional observation methods. The most interesting news is that the asteroid, more than forty-eight kilometers by the long axis, would contain nearly as much rare-earth elements as is to be predicted within the entire southern hemisphere of Auratus. Of course, this has piqued the interest of several business-minded space agencies and private space companies. Whilst there is no precedent for custody over off-planet mining, it is assumed that this will be an upcoming topic during legislative sessions as more and more of these large, mineral dense asteroids are identified and cataloged.

On Tuesday, April 3rd, the new St. Ark Space Center is slated to finally begin full operations, with a christening launch scheduled for sometime later this year. Director of the Department of the Air Force, Alexandra Mancours commented, "We are extremely pleased with the construction of such a modern facility that will bring Ærusea to the forefront of extra-planetary exploration. We would also like to thank those that have contributed to it's development, and especially Princess Iosefka for pushing to modernize our aerospace facilities throughout the country." A separate facility for the development of atmospheric craft was also built, expecting to provide about 1,750 jobs, with the main site providing nearly 2,000.
This is a welcome change for many throughout the country, whom have advocated for higher-tech industry and jobs in an attempt to modernize the nation's armed forces in the face of recent international turmoil. The theory that this will dissuade neighboring countries from being belligerent was created by noted economist Geoff Torq has become a national movement after being adopted by the Princess. Time will tell if the theory will come true to benefit Ærusea.

The Federal Government has announced that it will submit a proposal to neighboring nations within Mizirak to create an exclusive economic zone within the continent. The purpose of this proposal is to both strengthen the Ærusean economic base within the region, and around the world. It has become increasingly hard for Ærusean factories and other manufacturing business to continue operating with the increasing number of jobs being moved overseas due to lower costs. It is hoped that with this economic zone, industry will return to Ærusea, providing much needed jobs to lower wealth families and recent immigrants.
