Maiystedd, Maittar Capital Province
Vittomo Moddari, the Director of Foreign Affairs, was a simple yet complex man all at the same time. Growing up in Aleghsandarastedd, he had the luxury of being able to travel to the capital whenever his family had business to attend to. He attended Maiystedd University and received a Bachelors in Foreign Policy as well as a Masters in International Relations with a focus in Foreign Policy. His personal intricacies, however, made it difficult for him to make friends. He was not a difficult person to get along with. He just -- was a very hard pill to swallow. He had scratched and clawed his way to the top in Order of King's Scholars and was formally appointed as Director of Foreign Affairs in 2018 by Chancellor Junas Borsyng. Growing up as the son of a former Steddkef he felt the ambition to strive for greatness. Today is his one year anniversary in the post as Director of the FA Office - a post that was previously held simultaneously by the Chancellor. He knew that this was all of everything working together in his favor.
It was a normal day, well, as normal as a day can be in the state of war. One year had also passed since Maittar had been formally rebuffed by an economically struggling Delfina -- a nation which put Maittar in quite the peculiar position. A vote was called after that rebuff that was meant to instate Maittar as the protecting nation of Auratus, however, the vote only took place in Maittar and was for celebratory purposes only. The decision, however, had a much deeper effect on the people of Maittar. They had seen the year prior the struggles of their government in bringing together their neighboring nations. Delfina had declined, in favor of neutrality, but it was only a few months later that the late Sarandine called the King and his son to Delfina to sort out a trade agreement. It was that agreement that set a precedent for all future negotiations with Maittar, but although King Ciristopar was infatuated with Delfina and its rich history and culture, he could not help but notice the bad taste in the mouths of his people on the matter of an alliance with Delfina. Could they really be trusted?
Vittomo arrived at his office to find the Chancellor sitting in his chair.
"Ah, Director, good to see you. I came to wish you a happy anniversary, and a good one at that!"
"Thank you, Chancellor, I appreciate it. I am very busy right now bu--" he was cut off by the Chancellor.
"Now, now, Mr. Moddari, please. Call me Junas. I am also here because I have an assignment for you. The King and the council have decided that it is high time we organize ourselves with our allies. We are to issue formal letters of invitation to Northern Drax's exiled outpost in Kalmarsi, PM Djovoki is the only one we can trust from that heap of a mess that they call an Empire. Nonsense in my eyes. It is unfortunate they could not have reached out sooner. Insurrection is a sin in my eyes. Anyway, send invitations to them, Uclea, Rosaria, and Cobaltia."
"And Delfina, sir? What about them. They've been a ma--" he was cut off again.
"No, no. Not Delfina. The Council has voted against it. They've formed a coalition with the nations of Visargia and Euding, and our unlikely allies in the Federation of Cobaltia have expressed suspicion on that front. I don't want to poke the bear so to speak. They must sit this one out. We have our concerns."
"But, Chancellor, sir. I don't feel that's wise. They've been our only--" at this point the Chancellor was getting frustrated. He looked Vittomo straight in the eyes and spoke to him with intent.
"The answer is no, Vittomo. Perhaps in the future, but we have too much riding on the line here. We cannot chance it. They have made nor formal invitation to us to join their coalition and the King is not in the habit of sitting on the bylines waiting for someone to do something. We are a nation of 'doers' and this is what we are doing. Get it done, and also again 'happy anniversary' my friend." Chancellor Borsyng left the office pointing his finger in the air and saying "you got this" as he exited.
Vittomo was confused. The Maiystedd-Delphino Accord was the largest trade negotiation that Auratus had ever seen, why would we exclude them from this organization? Then it struck him. Respect. King Ciristopar was extremely strong in his views of respect. After Sarandine passed away, Delfina's Prince-Regent extended only an invitation to the funeral. There had been no talks of alliance -- however their nation had been quick to act when Aglrinia was barking at their door. The Quintumvirate Summit was a colossal disaster, and convenience is not a position for the King. For him, it's all in or not at all. Vittomo began drawing up the invitations, searching for a name to call this concoction of nations what would hopefully act as the paradigm of future alliances in the world, he settled on the Alsar Strategic Partnership. He felt that it fittingly outlined the intent while also coming across as official and cohesive. The name would be placed under an ASP with the S in the shape of an asp snake -- "How fitting" he thought. The invitations appeared as below:
